$48.5 Million Joint Warfare Simulation Contract Awarded
MCLEAN, Va.—March 20, 2006—Alion Science and Technology has been awarded a contract valued up to $48.5 million to provide modeling and simulation technologies to enhance joint experimentation at the US Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM).
Under the award, Alion said in a statement, its team will conduct research and development for future experimentation and for today's warfighter. Research areas include individual and small unit infantry training, situational awareness capability, training technology for distributed and joint systems, sensor simulation technology, visual simulation technology, information management, and simulation networking.
The award, issued by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in Orlando, FL, spans five years.
“Our military subject matter experts can provide the operational direction and our technical team [can provide] the technology needed to improve training and simulations for joint operations,” said Joe Owen, Alion senior vice president.
The majority of the work will be completed in Suffolk, Va., by Alion and its team, including Science Applications International Corp., Lockheed Martin Simulation, Training & Support, L3 Communications—Titan Corp., Koam Engineering Systems, Nakuru, Soar Technology, Geo Spatial Technologies Inc., and Toyon Research Corp.
