GSE Systems Wins Contracts in China, Europe and US

BALTIMORE—April 6, 2006—GSE Systems Inc., a provider of real-time simulation and training solutions to the power, process, manufacturing and government sectors, has announced the award of several nuclear and conventional power plant simulators and licenses.

According to a company announcement, Harbin University in China awarded GSE a contract to license its JADE modeling toolset for the purpose of integrating simulation into its traditional nuclear engineering program. Harbin University expects to play a role in providing qualified operations, maintenance and engineering personnel to China's rapidly expanding nuclear power industry.

GSE also received a contract from ABB Inc. to provide a full-scope simulator for the Cardinal Super Critical Coal Fired Unit, owned and operated by American Electric Power. The simulator will be used to validate control systems prior to plant implementation, as well as provide ongoing operator training, the announcement said.

In Sweden, KSU has selected GSE Systems as part of its program to upgrade nuclear power plant simulators. Finally, Washington Savannah River plant (formerly Westinghouse Savannah River) has awarded GSE a contract to simulate another chemical process plant application. This new model will integrate with several other GSE-developed models to help ensure plant production goals.

“The award in China is significant in that our technology was selected over the competition in what is arguably the fastest growing market in the world for nuclear power, and one of the most knowledgeable in simulation technology, said John Moran, chief executive at GSE, in the announcement.

The value of the four awards exceeds $2.2 million and the work is expected to be completed within 12 months.
