SumTotal Joins Google Enterprise Professional Program

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—May 9, 2006—SumTotal Systems has joined the Google Enterprise Professional program.

According to a SumTotal announcement, the company is integrating the Google Search Appliance within its learning management enterprise suite. By launching a Google search from SumTotal Enterprise Suite version 7.2, users can tap into classroom and online instruction, activities, and materials; informal learning such as presentations, case studies, and spreadsheets; and assessments of employee performance. Users also can search for information sitting in legacy, mainframe, and relational databases.

“Formal training and learning content is only a part of the information people need to gain the insight and knowledge required for their jobs,” said spokesperson Jon Ciampi, in the announcement. “[This] joint solution will allow customers to quickly extract the data they need to develop and buttress online courses, new-hire training, education around product launches, or any formal learning and development efforts.”
