RedPrairie Adds Demand Planning to WPM Solution
MILWAUKEE—May 11, 2006—Demand planning capabilities are
now available in RedPrairie Corp.’s 2006.1 DLx Labor software.
According to an announcement by the company, the new 2006.1 release
features a strategic planning tool that enables long-term resource planning
based on historical patterns, seasonality, and demand signals. It is
intended to enable users to establish appropriate base staffing levels
that are neither too high, which would cause increased nonproductive
time and poor utilization, nor too low, which would necessitate stop-gap
measures such as overtime and temporary help.
Also reportedly included in the 2006.1 release is a tactical planning
and scheduling tool intended to enable efficient resource deployment
at the start of a day or shift, and proactive redeployment during the
working day as requirements change. This feature is intended to ensure
that the right number of workers with the right skills are available
as order streams dictate to perform all tasks, including special packaging
and value-added services, according to the announcement.
A third feature of the 2006.1 release, according to the announcement,
is an Employee Report Card, which reports on worker performance against
job productivity goals, as well as combines such factors as indirect
time, quality, attendance, and safety. According to the announcement,
the Employee Report Card is intended for use by supervisors for tracking
and coaching workers in all areas affecting the quality and effectiveness
of operations.
