LCMS Supports UK Royal Navy Training

BOSTON—May 15, 2006—BT Global Services has selected the OutStart Evolution learning content management system to support the Royal Navy’s Type 45 training content development program.

BT Global Services provides communications solutions for customers in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia Pacific region. According to a company announcement, the Royal Navy will use the system to develop, roll out, and track the progress of more than 50 e-learning courses intended for trainee operatives of the new Type 45 destroyer. The courses will comprise contributions from the Royal Navy’s subject matter experts, as well as information and content in the form of simulations and emulations, delivered via the Defence Learning Portal (DLP), reportedly Europe’s largest learning system.

According to the announcement, Evolution is intended to address three stages of content creation—rapid content development, enterprise content development, and enterprise learning content management. It also reportedly combines formal training, knowledge sharing, and expert collaboration available on-demand to increase individual and organizational performance.
