Toshiba Achieves Milestone in Physician-to-Physician Training
TUSTIN, Calif.—May 18, 2006—Toshiba America Medical Systems
Inc. has announced that it has enrolled more than 2,500 radiologists
and cardiologists in its national speakers bureau program and physician
training courses through the Toshiba Education Center.
Offered nationwide, the Toshiba Speakers Bureau, which was launched
in 2004, is intended to educate physicians about cardiac imaging technology,
such as Toshiba’s Aquilion 64 CFX computed tomography (CT) system,
Infinix-i series of cath labs, and Aplio ultrasound system. According
to the announcement, physician presenters relay to program and course
attendees the practical experiences of clinicians who have adopted
64-slice CT technology in various settings, from hospitals to standalone
imaging centers.
Peter Fail, M.D., a cardiologist at the Cardiovascular Institute of
the South, stated in the announcement that the growing availability
of technology designed to diagnose heart disease before a patient experiences
a heart attack has put new demands on the fields of cardiology and
radiology. “Patients
are actively looking for the next best thing when it comes to uncovering
their true risk for heart disease,” he said. “Diagnostic
imaging is a big part of that equation, making it essential for physicians
to remain up to date on the latest imaging applications in cardiology.”
