Video Game Conference to Probe Audio Issues
AUSTIN, Texas—June 2, 2006—The Game Initiative, a producer of conferences for professionals in the computer and video game industry, has announced the Game Audio Conference (GAC), taking place here September 6 to 7. The conference is intended to offer advanced game audio sessions geared toward illuminating and proposing solutions to some of game audio's toughest problems, according to an announcement from the company.
“Austin is home to some of the top game audio professionals,” said Christopher V. Sherman, executive director at The Game Initiative, in the announcement. “The conference is designed to elevate game audio development education, strengthen the community, and foster professional growth.
Scheduled sessions include the following:

- Multi-channel Audio
- Creating Audio for Mobile Games
- When Audio is the Game Experience
- Music Design for Large Persistent Worlds
- Sound Source Acquisition and Library Maintenance
In addition to the Game Audio Conference, The Game Initiative is hosting three conferences concurrently: Game Writers Conference (Sept. 6 to 7), Austin Game Conference (Sept. 6 to 8) and Casual Games Conference. All events take place at the Austin Convention Center.
Online registration for professionals is $295 until July 21, a 40% discount of the onsite registration price of $495. Student registration is $250 until July 21st.
