Application Development and Data Management Tools
BEVERLY, Mass.—June 1, 2006—Version 2006 release 3 (v2006r3) of Altova’s XML tools reportedly includes a revised StyleVision 2006 visual stylesheet designer, which features usability enhancements and includes cascading stylesheet (CSS) and JavaScript support. According to a recent announcement, the visual stylesheet designer enables business users to create stylesheets that they can use to transform XML and database data into multiple output formats, including HTML pages, PDF reports, RTF documents, and Altova Authentic electronic forms.
The company also announced Authentic 2006, a free XML and database content editor said to let business users access and edit XML documents and databases through a WYSIWYG interface. Available in desktop and browser editions, Authentic reportedly presents nontechnical users with electronic forms that enable them to enter and view valid XML and/or database data without being exposed to the underlying technology.
Also from Altova are XMLSpy 2006 and MapForce 2006. XMLSpy 2006 is an XML editor and integrated development environment for modeling, editing, transforming, and debugging XML-related technologies. It features XSLT 2.0 and XQuery profilers, error handling, tracepoints in the XSLT debugger, and restriction handling for XML schema development.
MapForce 2006—a data integration and Web services implementation tool that reportedly can convert between XML, database, flat file, and EDI formats and map data to WSDL operations—now integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and Eclipse and includes EDI transaction set editing, visual function builder, and options for handling empty flat file values.
