“Dilbert” Creator Demos Collaboration Product

SAN JOSE, Calif.—June 12, 2006—Cartoonist Scott Adams, creator of the “Dilbert” cartoon strip, used Cisco Unified MeetingPlace to draw and collaborate with a nationwide audience in a presentation intended to highlight the potential of the solution to improve collaboration, according to a recent announcement.

A component of Cisco’s IP communications system, MeetingPlace is a conferencing solution intended  to integrate voice, video, and Web conferencing capabilities for such applications as collaborative meetings, presentations, and training sessions. During the presentation, some 100 Cisco customers and partners brainstormed with Adams and watched as he developed their ideas into a Dilbert strip. The initiative, dubbed the “Corner Cafe: Dilbert Comes to Your Desktop,” was jointly hosted by Cisco and leading channel partners, including Calence, Coleman Technologies, Dimension Data, INX, Logicalis, MSN Communications, and Nexus IS.

“While few businesses are interested in boosting their ability to draw cartoons, all organizations are looking for ways to improve collaboration, creativity, and innovation,” said Richard McLeod, director for unified communications solutions, Cisco worldwide channels team.

“Businesses today are struggling to improve communications and employee collaboration across the enterprise,” added Ron Temske, director for IP communications at Logicalis. “This event is helping open our customers’ eyes to the possibilities for their organizations.”
