Demand-Driven Workforce Management Tool

CHELMSFORD, Mass.—June 19, 2006—Kronos Inc. has announced Workforce Central 5.2, an applications suite intended to enable organizations to staff, develop, deploy, track, and reward their workforce.

According to the announcement, a key feature of Workforce Central 5.2 is Workforce Analytics, which reportedly provides managers with insight into business performance in such areas as per-unit labor costs, cost per labor hour, time paid but not worked, cost of absenteeism, business volume demand versus labor needs, and assessment of excessive overtime usage. Organizations such as Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES), the Texoma Healthcare System, and Towncare Dental are using the analytics solution, the announcement stated.

“Labor costs typically represent about 50% of total expenses for not-for-profit hospitals like Texoma and overtime is the most challenging component to manage,” said Texoma’s Ty Sweeney, in the announcement. “The Kronos solutions provide us with visibility into real-time labor performance and trends. As a result, we are able to reduce overtime and improve financial performance.”

Additional features of Workforce Central 5.2 include decision-support tools that are intended to enable managers to deploy underutilized employees to where they are needed most; a scheduling tool intended to enable organizations to anticipate and prepare for surges in demand volume; and a collaborative budgeting module, called Workforce Operations Planner, that is intended to enable retailers to align corporate sales and labor planning with store execution.
