Company to Build 100th Simulator Cockpit Assembly

NEW YORK—July 10, 2006—L-3 Communications has announced that its Link Simulation and Training division’s AMI Instruments organization will produce its 100th simulator cockpit assembly. AMI reportedly will deliver an EA-18G simulator cockpit to Link as part of a subcontract from the Boeing Company through U.S. Naval Air Systems Command PMA-265 for the EA-18G aircraft program.

According to the announcement, the simulator cockpit will be integrated with major Link and Boeing systems, producing the first Tactical Operational Flight Trainer for this F/A-18E/F Super Hornet derivative aircraft. The EA-18G training device reportedly will consist of separate front and rear cockpit assemblies and associated interface cabinet. The assemblies will be completed and tested individually and as a complete system at AMI’s facility, according to the announcement.
