Customer-facing LMS Debuts

TOLEDO, Ohio—July 13, 2006—LearnShare, a consortium of Fortune 1000 companies organized to research, design, purchase, package, and share best practices in the training and development field, has launched an offering that is intended to enable its members to implement a learning management system (LMS) designed for training outside/reseller sales organizations and staff.

According to the announcement, the customer-facing LMS is a training portal for member companies’ business customers that represent or sell their products. So far, the LMS reportedly has been implemented by several LearnShare members, including a top healthcare organization that provided training to its partners and a Fortune 500 chemical and transportation construction company that implemented training for its oil distributors.

“Training the workforce that represents your products, whether or not directly employed by your company, is a critical demand,” said Lois Webster, LearnShare chief executive. “The idea to build this portal began as an educational initiative, but the impact of a better trained workforce in customer-facing positions often results in increased sales.”
